The hardwood for this press is from a small business in Maine that is currently
recovering lost veneer logs from Moosehead Lake that quite possibly sank to the bottom en route to the mill sometime in the early 1700’s. Since these logs were cut from trees approximately 300 - 350 years old, the hardwood in these presses may be coming from a tree that was a sapling prior to the coming of the Mayflower and European settlement.
